From the perspective of my 30+ years as a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and relaxation specialist helping people heal from a variety of emotional and spiritual issues, I have come to realize that creativity, and the application of creative techniques, results in a significant decrease in pain and increase in joy. Whether learning to pause and listen, exploring new ways of presenting yourself, adjusting to a life circumstance that you cannot change as quickly as you would like, or discovering new ways of looking at yourself, the creativity inside you is the key that empowers you to unlock the door to where you want to go, frees you from the pain of the past, and brings new meaning into your life.
There are a variety of creative techniques available that can be applied to your specific needs, such as journaling, poem-making, art, and relaxation skills, along with more traditional counseling techniques. In some cases a combination of these techniques will prove most effective.
